1 Day Desaru Fruit Farm + Ostrich Farm + Fire Flies River Cruise

Off to Malaysia on a day trip organized by 5 stars tours to Desaru Fruit Farm, Ostrich Farm & Fire Flies River Cruise. Departing at 6.30am in the morning, we had to reach golden mile complex at 6am. The kids woke up at 5am and was wide awake and excited for the trip. Rachel was so happy that she had her best friend Chloe with her on this trip. Departing at 6.30am, we arrive at our first stop in Malaysia for breakfast. Nice prawn noodles for breakfast at only 4rm. Coffee at 1.20rm.

Movie to keep them entertain at 6.30am

After a hearty lunch, we are off to the ostrich farm. The farm holds 400 ostriches. The kids get up close and personal with the ostriches strolling everywhere around them. The guide feed us a lot of informations on ostrich and their egg. We get to see how they crack open an ostrich egg (with a drill) get to stand on it and get to eat it too. We also tried the ostrich meat satay (taste like chicken). Nice ! Although it's an ostrich farm, we get to see an Emu walking around, a monkey in the cage and lots of chicken, roaster and chicks. a mini zoo .....

Next a 30mins bus ride took us to the fruit farm. Another guided tour, the guide told us alot of informations on the fruits & the plants....but.....we only manage to hear what she say for the first min i think..... Cause the kids decided to roam at their own paste. Walking way slower then all the others, They enjoying their very own program, running in the farm, picking up fruits that was drop on the floor etc... They found 4 passion fruits on the way! There is also a mini zoo in the fruit farm. With rabbit, monkeys, ducks.... They get to pat & play with the rabbits. After that we visited a store which we are introduced to raw honey, propolis and tongkat Ali. As usual we got persuaded by the benefit of the propolis (beneficial for children) and tongkat Ali ( for me, my mum and max) and brought some back. Total damage 286rm.

Our next stop after the fruit farm suppose to be a stop over at a town mall. But guess what? mins after Ryan fall alseep on the bus, the bus broke down. The cause "no petrol". We waited for an hour before we are on the road again. Got a few mosquito bites during the wait though... In the end we still manage to go to the mall for a short stop over of 30min. Chloe and Rachel bought a slipper each at 12rm. Then we are off to dinner. The restaurant is just a 5 mins drive away. After dinner, we took a slow stroll to the jetty to board the boat to see the fireflies. This was what attracted me to this trip. I have never seen a firefly in my life before. Ryan got scared cause we are in total darkness during the boat ride. But he still manage to point out the fireflies when he sees them. The firefiles light up the mangrove just like Christmas trees. A truly beautiful sight. Lucky Rachel to have one flew near to her. The only disappointment is that it's too dark and the lights from the fireflies are not bright enough for us to capture it on camera.

Father & Son

Mother & Daughter

That mark the last itinerary of this tour. On the way back Singapore, Rachel and Chloe both knock out in the bus but not for Ryan cause he had a short nap earlier. Daddy and me have to rotate to entertain him. But luckily on the car ride back home from golden mile complex, Ryan knock out too. As for mummy and daddy, the day lasted us a full 20 hrs before we finally get to rest. Tired but an enjoyable trip for all of us. The next day we went to the library and borrowed some books about fireflies and ostriches. A true learning journey for them and for me too.
